Before launching the new vintages on the market, we’ve met to taste the wines that have completed the entire long aging cycle, even in the bottle. In the year 2021, we had a 20% reduction in harvest due to late frosts and a hailstorm in April. The tasting of the Riserva and the Gran Selezione testify to a vintage that, despite the adversity, is distinguished by austere elegance and longevity.

The real surprise was the tasting of Chianti Classico 2022:

I have read around how 2022 was described by many journalists and experts as yet another hot vintage and consequently rough tannins, not well balanced wines, etc.

It may have been the late spring rains that allowed us to have a water reserve, it may have been the management of the greenery that protected us from stress and sunburn or our altitude… the fact is that we managed to bring healthy grapes to the cellar, quality even if in smaller quantities than

And above all we managed to harvest respecting the maturation of the tannins without having drops in acidity.

During the 2022 tasting, at the end of refinement, we found a “sunny” wine, lively but at the same time with an intriguing pulpy fruit, well balanced in freshness and verticality of the sip.

A wine in some ways more ready than cooler vintages… proving that easy generalizations do not fit into the wine world.

TASTING CHIANTI CLASSICO 2022 …A NICE SURPRISE

Despite initial setbacks (frost and hail), 2021 yielded an elegant and long-lived Riserva and Gran Selezione. The 2022 Chianti Classico is a surprise: rain and altitude allowed for healthy grapes with ripe tannins and good acidity, resulting in a "solar", fruity, and balanced wine, ready to drink. This result defies generalizations about warm vintages.
