In a renewed scenario that led to the creation of UGAs (Additional Geographical Units currently only affecting the Gran Selezione), the Chianti Classico Collection took place at the Stazione Leopolda.

180 Gallo Nero wineries were present, with a total of 650 labels for tasting, of which 161 were Chianti Classico Riserva and 125 Gran Selezione.

The 2019 vintage, rediscovered in the tasting of the Riservas, confirms its material richness and strength. A complete vintage that delivers very intense, deep glasses with great impact on the palate. In the Riserva tastings, there are important peaks that enliven the passage in the mouth with citrusy traits and Mediterranean freshness. Among the samples examined, the Riserva from Riecine and San Giusto a Rentennano – Le Baroncole stand out at the top of the list. The 2020 Chianti Classico brings classicism back to the glass with a fruit that is, in most cases, very expressive and well-matured. Smooth, precise, and energetic on the palate, it makes drinkability its distinctive trait. Here too, interesting glasses are quick to assert themselves, in a generally very good quality. In the top, I feel I should include Cigliano di Sopra for its manifest character and future perspective. The most intriguing and avant-garde glass while never neglecting the essential traits of Sangiovese Classico.

Chianti Classico 2020

Campomaggio Solid fruit on the nose, raspberry and strawberry. In the mouth, it is pleasant with a nice harmony between the components. Precise and composed, it is appreciated.
